What to expect with Midwifery Care:

I serve clients who desire a natural home birth with individualized care during their pregnancy and birthing* season.

A typical prenatal appointment with me includes:

  • conversation about how your pregnancy is progressing, emotional and physical health, family life, desires for birth, etc.

  • counseling on nutrition, recommended supplementation, lifestyle balance, procedures and screenings that are available and their risks and benefits for you and your family.

  • clinical assessment of you: blood pressure, pulse, weight, and your baby: measuring growth, listening to heartbeat, assessing position

  • periodic lab draws

  • referrals for other supportive services as desired

  • encouragement, encouragement, encouragement!

*In the event a labor transfer to the hospital becomes necessary, I will accompany you and remain with you, as desired, through the birth and first hours postpartum and resume postpartum care after you are discharged.

What to Expect

  • Prenatal

    I believe that a woman’s body was created for this experience. In the vast majority of circumstances, low-risk women are incredibly equipped to deliver their babies at home without intervention and the support team of their choosing. I provide informed consent to ensure parents are able to make choices throughout pregnancy and postpartum that best reflect their personal preferences, beliefs, and needs.

    My care focuses heavily on optimal nutrition. We spend a lot of time working on solutions to navigate individual needs and guarantee that mom and baby are well nourished.

    Prenatal care includes monthly visits through 28 weeks, twice monthly until 36 weeks, and weekly until birth. All standard pregnancy labs, ultrasounds, and screenings are available through me or referrals in the community.

  • Labor & Birth

    Because of the work we do prenatally to build relationship and prepare for this journey together, the transition into labor and birth is smooth and familiar. I bring my knowledge and experience as well as the “midwife’s bag of tools” to assess mom and baby’s wellbeing in a non-invasive way.

    Our goal is for mom to feel empowered and strong because she is the one bringing her baby earthside. It is my job to protect the birth space, and be ready and skilled if a need arises.

  • Postpartum

    The birth team will be at your home at least two hours after the birth for immediate postpartum care. We spend this time observing mom and baby, initiating breastfeeding, performing a head to toe neurological and physical exam of the baby, and we aim to leave the birth space tidier than we found it. We leave you well fed, stable, and ready for rest with your baby in your arms. We plan to see you again in your home within 48 hours.

    I remain on call for my clients through 6 weeks postpartum. These weeks include 4 additional scheduled visits for both mom and baby. We will perform optional newborn screenings and file birth certificate paperwork. Communication may occur between visits as clinical needs arise.

Home birth provides an incredible experience for women and families. Is it right for you?

My individualized care includes regular communication throughout each trimester, availability in labor, assessing mom and baby with minimal interruptions. I offer informed consent and choice for all procedures, clinical interventions that you and I discuss to determine what’s best for you and baby. I encourage freedom to labor and push in any position you like, immediate skin to skin, physiological delivery of the placenta, and delayed cord clamping. I care for clients as individuals and aim to meet the unique needs and desires of each client.

The Investment

The global fee for midwifery care is $7,100*. Additional expenses include labs, ultrasounds, supplements, and medications. I accept payments in cash or check and will work with you to determine a payment plan that fits your situation.

*I offer a $200 discount for paying in full by 36 weeks which reduces the investment to $6,900

  • Global fee includes comprehensive prenatal care throughout pregnancy to birth through 6 weeks postpartum. Rate also includes the following: 36 week home visit, labor & delivery, 24 hour home visit, an as-needed 4 day home visit, and a 10-14 day home visit.

    Global fee does NOT include labs, pharmaceuticals, supplements, ultrasounds, and specific birth supplies recommended by Tatia.

    *Receive a $200 discount if all fees are paid in full by 36 weeks.

    Please note that I only take on a limited amount of clients so that I can be available during labor and delivery. However, in some cases I am NOT present for delivery when a mom has a faster labor.

    I make every effort to be there for your labor and delivery, and my fee does not change regardless of me having arrived, or being enroute to you at the time of delivery.

    If you have a history of fast labor and delivery, be sure to communicate that with me!

  • Labs, Supplements, Pharmaceuticals, Ultrasounds, Certain Birth Supplies, etc. are in addition to the base fee. You have the ability to choose what you do and do not want.

    Home visits in addition to the included home visits are $250 each.

  • I cannot take payment from FSA/HSA credit cards, but can accept checks from these accounts. Some insurance companies do allow midwifery expenses to be submitted for reimbursement. Please check with your plan to determine if this is an eligible expense.

    Many health sharing ministries do consider home birth midwifery an approved expense.
